Beautiful Beneficence, New Colors, and a CONTEST!

BFTE has decided to start making new makeup colors to go towards worthy causes.

It started last week with with 2 new colors to benefit Zach's Friends The two colors can be found on our website.

Zach was the son of my best friend. Here is a note from his Mom-

On April 8th, 2011 our lives were forever changed when we lost our beloved son, Zachary.

Zachary was a funny, energetic, loving son...who also battled depression.

On April 8th Zachary ended his life.

While no one likes to talk about suicide, it's time we start talking and raising awareness. By educating ourselves and others we can start to recognize the warning signs and what we can do to help someone in need.

According to the CDC a life is lost to suicide every 15 minutes, that's approximately 95 lives EACH DAY! That statistic is astounding and is reason enough to start talking. We need to equip ourselves and our children with the right resources to help others.

Like most families walking the same path we are, we had no clue our son was going to end his life that day, however, we refuse to stay silent. We want to do everything we can to raise awareness.

In our efforts to raise awareness we had Friend of Zach bracelets created to help raise awareness about suicide prevention.

While we are not professionals, we hope that our story and our ambition to help others will be contagious and that people will wear their bracelets not only as a reminder of a wonderful young man who's life was cut too short, but a reminder that we can make a difference.

We can make a difference!

A common misconception is that "If I talk about suicide to my kids then I'll give them the idea to do it." That is simply not true. Suicide is portrayed in movies, on TV, and in the news...it's better for you to educate them rather than their friends or television.

We MUST talk to our kids about this...if for no other reason, so they know what to do if a situation arises with one of their friends.

In the weeks since our son passed we have handed out (at no charge to students, parents and communities) over 1,000 bracelets with daily requests for more.

Here is a FAIRY TALE for my PRISSY little PRINCESS. Come, LET’S GET KOZY on this SATURDAY NIGHT and YO MAMA will tell you a story…

Once upon a time, there was a BEAUTIFUL BOMBSHELL who moved far from the DESERT SANDs of ARIZONA to a quaint BEACH HOUSE on a BIG ISLAND surrounded by the BLUE PACIFIC.

One QUIET MORNING, ISIS GABLE- the beautiful girl- sat enjoying a breakfast of RASPBERRY crepes and CHAMPAGNE. It was pure BLISS watching the SEAFOAM and its GENTLE caress of the beach, the OCEAN MIST cooling her SUNKISSED skin. This CLASSY, LAVISH lifestyle was all she knew. She was a DADDY’S GIRL, and daddy had BIG MONEY. She was almost ROYALTY. Ever since she was a BABY GIRL, Isis traveled the world. AUTUMN in TUSCANY, SUNSHINE filled ROMPs in ROME, TROPICAL vacations in such places as BERMUDA and the CARIBBEAN. Although she was always the BELLE OF THE BALL, she wasn’t the least bit JADED, or ever a DIVA- she was a CLASS ACT. But, her personal UTOPIA was boring. GLITZ was okay, but she wanted adventure, she had a CRUSH on MAYHEM. She wanted to FLIRT with a DANGEROUS situation and like a FIRE DANCER, do it with GRACE.

Isis went about her day, chatting with the SHOPAHOLIC GIRL NEXT DOOR about the HEAT and the latest TINSLE TOWN gossip. When evening came, she walked home in the MOONLIGHT to enjoy a CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE and a WINNER of an APPLETINI. No INSOMNIA tonight, she climbed into bed- under her LAVENDER SATIN SHEETS and her PLUM CHENILLE comforter and fell asleep.

Isis was awakened by a BREEZE. This wasn’t the usual SERENE COOLMIST of her ocean-side home, and she quickly felt quite PARANOID. She rushed outside, but instead of her beautiful beach, Isis saw some pretty odd surroundings. A rocky landscape that seemed to be made out of COAL and STEEL jutted around her. In front of her little cottage, was a CANYON that seemed to go a LONG WAY DOWN. To her right, a RED RIVER flowed, glowing like WILDFIRE. On it’s banks, many SPRUCE and OAK colored SILVER and COPPER. To her left was a field ripe for HARVEST and beyond it a GRASSY hill with a single PEACOCK. Above her, a mixture of CLEAR SKIES and a ATOMIC TEAL NEBULA had her worried. What is this TWISTED WACKY place!? A WAVE of regret washed over her, like WARM HONEY. Was KARMA telling her she should have been happy for what she had- instead of wishing for adventure, was this all an ILLUSION? Isis figured if she was going to have an adventure, she needed to be dressed for it. She went inside one last time to change from her IVORY nighty into some NAVY DENIM jeans.

When Isis returned outside, she was startled to see a very large EMERALD green frog! Slightly frightened by this ENCOUNTER, she turned to go back inside- but her home had vanished! This place is nothing but pure CHAOS! I’m gonna need a MIRACLE to get out of here! Now what am I supposed to do, KISS THE FROG?
“No HONEY,” replied the frog-reading her thoughts- “No HANKY PANKY here, I am simply your guide.”
Isis was taken aback. It was one thing the nasty frog could talk, but to read her mind- it was simply MAD!

“Oh dear, nasty frog am I?” croaked the obviously BITTER frog. “What would you rather have then? Some cute little BLUE BIRD? Perhaps the ROCKSTAR from your favorite band, BLUE MONDAY?”

Isis stuttered, “I’m-I’m so sorry! I wasn’t trying to be a MENACE with a BIG EGO, I promise! I’m just scared is all. What is going on here?”

“Well, I can see you’re TROUBLED young lady, so I’ll forgive you. My name’s HITCHCOCK and I am here to help you on your adventure.” The frog replied, with much compassion.

Isis was confused still. “So, what is my adventure exactly? Some crazy, dark life-threatening journey- or a CHANCE to SEDUCE a handsome prince?”

“Your adventure is what you make it,” he replied curtly. Then he lead her to a thin path between her cottage and the daunting canyon.

Isis was still very confused, but followed the large amphibian along the small EARTHY pathway. After a distance, they came across a very peculiar tree. It was surrounded by ORCHIDs and BUTTERCUPs, and had an strange assortment of items on its branches. The OLIVE DRAB twigs bore, from what she could see, various DIAMONDS and GEMs. There were also GRAPEs, GREEN APPLEs, LEMONs and BLUEBERRIES. When she leaned against it’s mighty trunk to rest, Isis could feel it was made of SUEDE. What an odd tree! After only a few moments the frog spoke out, quite hastily-

“Okay, time to go, we must make it in time to catch the NIGHT TRAIN!”

“The Night Train?” she asked, “but surely it’s not past noon!”

“Night comes quickly here,” he said, “Trust me, you don’t want to be here when darkness comes!” Isis left with the frog, hoping to soon be on her way home.

As evening approached, MIDNIGHT BLUE creeping into the space of clear blue sky, the air around her became MISTY and as thick as the MISSISSIPPI MUD. Isis had DEJAVU as the feeling of dread returned. Would they make it to the train on time!? A great relief soon followed as the train came into view. Isis was so happy she could quite possibly MOONWALK! The PEWTER train, like the rest of this place, was a sight to see for sure. PETALs of PETUNIAs carpeted the walkways approaching it, and many curious creatures waited in line to board. Isis was pretty sure she even saw a MERMAID in a large tank being wheeled on. “Where exactly are we going?”

The frog replied, “I have to get you to the other side of the land, the QUEEN OF HEARTS wishes to speak with you.”
Isis wondered why the Queen could have come to her, if it was so important.

“Beacause that wouldn’t be an adventure, would it silly girl?” Crap- Isis forgot that the frog could read her thoughts. The frog let out an odd croaky-giggle. “Let’s go buy our tickets.”

They approached the bright MARIGOLD ticket counter, and the frog handed the PEACHY cat-like agent a GOLD NUGGET and a large round piece of PIRATE’S GOLD. “RUMOR has it, Hitchcock, that you’re working for the Queen now.” Mewed the strange being.

“Yes, just last week I was asked, TAWNY Cat. It has great benefits you know!” The frog quickly answered her, then turned to Isis. “We must hurry the train will leave soon.”

They took their seats on a deserted car with ORANGCICLE colored benches. Isis watched the scenery fly by & listened to her growling stomach. As if by cue, a cart entered the car. “Would you like some COCOA? A snack, JUICY fruit perhaps?” asked and ANGEL-like woman. “Our specials today are SUGAR PLUMs, TANGERINEs, and TRIPLE BERRY SHERBERT.”

“She can have whatever she wants, WYSTERIA, she is a guest of the Queen, put it on the royal traveling tab.” The frog said with authority.

Soon Isis’s was enjoying a delicious cup of cocoa with just a hint of MINT. An ESPRESSO scone completed her snack. With her belly satisfied, she dozed off. The lurch of the stopping train woke her quickly. Isis and her frog companion got off and set down a BLACK AND WHITE paved road to the CASTLE IN THE SKY. As they entered, Isis thought the castle was quite JAZZY. Like something out of the GOLDEN AGE of Hollywood. Like an old movie from 1939 she once watched with her father. The Queen wasn’t all she had imagined. Small, pale and almost youthful with her PINKY cheeks and TRANSPARENT hair. The frog swiftly hopped away, and when the queen saw Isis, her face looked LIVID. Oh no! what’s going on!? I thought the Queen was on my side! “So you thought you could take it from me?” Roared the Queen. “It was my PASSION, and you think you can have it!”

Isis said with a WHISPER, “Wha-what my Queen? What is it I have taken? I am NOT THAT INNOCENT, but I am not a NAUGHTY girl. I’m sure I have taken nothing from you!”

The Queen bellowed incoherent ramblings as she morphed into a mighty beast. Sparks flew all around Isis as she ran around dodging them. This queen was a TOTAL BITCH! Luckily behind a SHELL-colored column Isis found a WIZARD’S WAND. She picked it up and began to flick and point it at her AREA 51-ish attacker. She didn’t know what she was doing, but this HOCUS POCUS was working! Several shots seemed to hit & damage the Queen! Then, when Isis had found a little BEAM of hope, everything turned BLACK. The Queen once again morphed- this time into a CYCLONE. Isis tried to be STEALTH as long as she could, having no idea how to battle a tornado! Suddenly the Queen-thing lunged at her! Before she could react a magnificent CHESTNUT PEGASUS swooped in and flung Isis on its back. She was on CLOUD 9. Her heart was pounding & she was grateful for her winged hero. She held the horse in a strong EMBRACE as it flew for what seemed like hours. Isis eventually couldn’t fight the exhaustion any longer and let herself drift off, hoping that the Pegasus would keep her safe & from falling.

Isis woke up in her own comfy bed. Drenched in sweat, she wondered what had happened. It had seemed so real! Her body still ached from the MANIA, and she wondered how it could have all been a dream. She may never understand, but she knows she will never have ENVY for the adventurous life again!

When we first opened our doors in 2006 we, like many other small cosmetics companies, offered basic stock mineral makeup in easier to manage jars. In the last 3 years we have grown and expanded our line with colors created by the team at BFTE.

You, our wonderful loyal customers, have loved the primary pigments that helped to establish our company, but we are going to be discontinuing many of those favorites. To help you “stock up" on these discontinued "primaries" we will be offering them at a discounted price of 3.00.

Since we have had many requests to continue offering primary pigments as part of our complete cosmetic line, we will continue to offer a select few of them. We will categorize them as "Primaries" and make it clear that these are pure pigment colors that are available at other companies also. This will take place in a few weeks when our new website is live. This change will make it easy for you to find the many unique colors we have created.

2nd Annual Hygiene Drive

There are many people here in the USA that do not have the resources or money to purchase necessities such as hygiene products.

This Christmas Beauty From the Earth will be sending Hygiene Kits out to the needy. These kits will be handed out to many men, women, and children who are not as fortunate as many of us.

Last year we were only going to send them to homeless but we found that there are many people out there that can not afford the items that are not homeless. These may include mentally handicap persons or the victims of domestic violence.

Our goal is to send at lease 200 kits out. The photo above show you how much we have had donated to the cause so far. We are still in need of many more items.

We would like to invite you to participate in this event.

Rebranding?

At BFTE we have been working with some marketing consultants that deal with company rebranding. We are considering rebranding the company including but not limited to radical changes to the brand's logo, brand name, image, marketing strategy, and advertising themes.

With rebranding we would be extending our line of traditional cosmetics. By traditional cosmetics we mean non-mineral and not all natural formulas. At this time we offer some of these products but the line would be much larger so we can offer our customers the convenience of one-stop shopping.

Bright Makeup Looks

Bright makeup is the newest fad on this year’s runway. In fashion, movie galas and your typical hometown sidewalk, everyone is focusing on bright hues for the eyes. If you go for the bright make up on your eyes, keep your base and lips neutral and vice versa.

The spectrum of eye shadows has reached a crescendo of variations. With these multi colored shades, sticking to neutral tones on lips and bases will draw the wanted attention directly on the eyes. The saying is that the eyes are the windows to the soul, so why not give them a little spirit to spice them up. When choosing a neutral shade for your lips the recommendation is a nude lip gloss. This will keep your mouth looking natural while giving it a little bit of shine that will add a subtle fullness. Using nude shades of base will achieve that girl next door, au natural look while your bright shadowed eyes hint at that little bit of mischief within.

The term bright in regards to makeup does not necessarily mean multi colored. In fact, when dealing with your eyes it can mean dark chartreuse to purple, turquoise, green, and blue. Adding thick eyeliner to your eyes can take you from being the innocent angel to the smoky siren. There are numerous other gel liners ranging from purples, blues, greens, even pinks and reds are now available that can help you try out new colors to highlight your bright eye shadows. Adding gold glitter or maybe just a touch of turquoise glitter may give you that classy look. You need nothing other than your eyeliner and eye shadow to achieve this look giving you a dramatic but simple style. Try out orange and reds with bronze or maybe the purple, blue and gold with a thick black liner can make your evening a special one!

If you cannot decide between using a yellow eye shadow or the orange one, start with yellow and blend it with orange towards the end of your eyes. Add a slight twang of it on the lower eyelid to get the real effect. Top it with thick black mascara and you are all set for the party. Mixing blues with greens and purples, bronze with reds and oranges and even pinks with shades of blue can create dramatic effects for your eyes.

Bright eyes with minimal makeup not only suit any skin color but also help you look suave, sophisticated with a hint of mystery and style. Keep to nude tones for the rest of your makeup when using the eyeliner technique as well.

Try it out if you haven’t already. We have videos and photos to help you out. Bright makeup is an easy technique, one that really is left to your devices. Just remember to keep in mind that if one feature is brightened the others should be neutral. If you have bright eyes and bright lips you are going to come off as gaudy instead of classy. Eye shadow applied right will mimic a look of confidence that you may or may not have. When applying makeup the best route is to keep it within your comfort boundaries but experiments can give you a jazzy new look that you be looking for!

Mineral Eyeshadows

I recently purchased some of your products and amazed by the quality. I am a newbie at makeup and you were the first online site that I purchased makeup from and I am very pleased by your products and service. I only heard about you through youtube reviews and looks and although I used to be skeptic of online purchases without getting a chance to try the product I decided to give it a shot (and I'm glad I did). Being a girl of colour I need high pigmented eyeshadows and your colours are great for that! And although the colours are very vibrant, blending them is incredibly easy! Oh and great range of colours, I can't wait to try more.

Mineral Foundation

I also have really bad skin that is prone to breakout and my friend told me to try mineral makeup because it's good for your skin. I am pleased with the Warm Honey foundation.With the foundation it has decent coverage and blends nicely into my skin and is not cakey at all. It also feels very light and natural. Same with the Buff Apricot blush, lightly applied it adds a nice rosy cheek. I was hesitant at first being a little darker but when blended properly it looked nice.

She's got more of a golden undertone so Caramel would be her pick. Eyeshadow for Brown Eyes

If you have brown eyes, you are lucky as they are very versatile to work with, apart from the fact that they look pretty!

Brown eyes have a wide variety of shades ranging from light brown to hazel and dark brown colors. There is a variety of makeup colors that can help accentuate your eyes starting from deep reds to yellow, orange, purple and even blue, depending on the actual brown shade of the eyes. To lighten and brighten dark brown eyes, you can use shimmering colors.

There are some basic rules of eye make up that you can refer to when in a dilemma about your color choices. The lighter colors accentuate, bring out and highlight eyes while dark shades of makeup help recede or minimize the contour and size. So, you can outline the eyes in dark eyeliner and fill in the eyelids with light eye shadow to highlight your deep hazel eyes.

You can easily work out the makeup with pale pinks or highlight it with deep rust, chocolate browns and add some shimmer with gold. If you want to really highlight your brown eyes, use an eye shadow which is a shade lighter that you eye color for a natural look or a shade darker than your eye color for a sexy, sultry look. Brown eyes stand out in black liners and plum, purple, navy, blue shades work well for some people. If you want to put more emphasis on your eyes, use darker shades of lip colors so that your eyes look lighter than they really are.
For a subtle look, you can highlight the eyes with light pink, champagne and peach eye shadows with brown eyeliner. To add more emphasis, curl your lashes and apply brown mascara as a finishing touch.

If you are wary of experimenting, you can go for shades of blue or purple during the day and deep blues, indigo during the evenings. Brown eyes look very nice with purple eye liner filled in with pink eye shadow or maybe dark brown eyeliner filled in with raisin colored eye shadow.
Some experts suggest that for a natural look, use soft shades of pink to bring out the brown of your eyes and keep eye liners to the minimum; while during the day use a brown mascara and for evening outs, try the soft black. Thick black mascara will lend a rich look to brown eyes and make them look warm and sultry. But instead of black mascara, you can even experiment with chocolate, deep plum or even dark brown mascara.

To maximize the effect on your eyes, keep the rest of the makeup to a bare minimum. You can have neutral cheek color and lip colors accordingly.
